The brief from the clients was to remove the grass and create a low maintenance garden that provided access to the back garden via a side gate.
The garden is on a slope and due to mobility problems the clients were unable to maintain the grass and the garden as they had been previously been able to.

I decided to terrace the slope and create two levels. The area was planted with a variety of mixed low shrubs and bark was used as a mulch to reduce weeds whilst the plants established themselves |  |

The budget for the garden determined the materials that were used. Gravel was laid in the section near the house to provide a contrast to the bark and the rose bed became a focal point by encircling it with small setts. |  |

The path was constructed using timber effect stone sleepers which snaked around the rose bed and provided access to the back garden. |  |
