Small town garden

Lucie New Garden Design was asked to design a low maintenance garden with a secluded seating area which was also suitable for the clients’ two dogs.

The main element of the brief was to remove the grass, as the dogs liked to dig and the lawn was in a poor state. An existing shed was to remain and a path was required from a gate at the end of the garden to the rear of the house.

The design comprises of a series of inter linking circles. A curved path leads through the garden to a circular seating area and pergola, the planting is relaxed and informal in pastel shades.

small town garden borderConstruction is scheduled to start in a few weeks on a garden I designed a few months ago.

It is a small town garden which is completely overshadowed by a huge conifer. Once the conifer has been removed the soil will be terribly poor so we are building raised beds which will be filled with an enriched compost & soil mixture and planted with scented seasonal plants. A patio will be laid in front of the beds with a small water feature to one side.

I can’t wait for my clients to be able to enjoy sitting in their new garden with the scent from the plants wafting around them and listening to the gentle trickle of water!
