First garden for a busy professional

The garden of this new build property was a rather muddy blank canvass with a steep slope fairly close to the patio doors. As with most new builds the thin layer of soil can hide a multitude of builders materials left over from construction and consequently drainage and building a garden can be quite interesting.

The client’s wish list was for a low maintenance garden with a small area for eating near the house and a planting scheme that was colourful and easy to look after.

The final design included a terraced patio constructed using new oak timber sleepers an oval lawn which made the garden feel wider and an informal seating area at the bottom of the garden to take advantage of the afternoon sun.

Planting softens the view of the garage from the house and feature plants provide year round colour and structure.

Before

After

Lucie was approached to create a garden for my new house. She was amongst several people asked to quote for the work involved, which was to design the garden, buy suitable plants and install them in the garden.

Groundwork was needed and Lucie put me in contact with a very efficient firm whose work was excellent and completed quickly to plan.

Lucie and her team prepared the new soil and planted the varieties of plants in line with her plan. This work took just over a day and a half. Work was carried out very efficiently and the good choice of planting has created a colourful garden with a border around a lawn. It is now nearly 6 months since the planting was done and the colour in the garden looks beautiful. Lucie used plants with pink and purple flowers at my request but has included others to create a good variety of blooms over the summer period.

I am very pleased with my garden.”
