Wildlife friendly garden
This small sloped town garden measured only 12m x 8m and was quite overgrown, making it fairly unusable.
The clients wish list included a larger paved area near the house and also somewhere to sit that caught the sun, raised beds, a utility area for compost and somewhere to grow vegetables.
The solution was to terrace the garden and incorporate raised beds into the slope, set diagonally to create a feeling of width. The area near the house was mostly deep shade so a seating area was positioned further down the garden to capture the sun, carefully positioned planting areas softened the hard landscaping & helped screen the garage.
The clients chose a clean contemporary paving which complimented the design layout, the planting scheme was designed to encourage birds and insects into the garden and although being in an urban setting, this secluded town garden is buzzing with bees and wildlife.
